Beneath the Trees: A Tree Care Website

Have you ever visited a yard where the trees were bright green, magnificent, and oh-so lush? Did you find yourself wishing that your trees could look the same way? They can. They simply need the proper care. On this website, you will learn what that proper care entails. A lot of it comes down to proper trimming, but certain trees also thrive with fertilizer, extra water, or some wood mulch around their base. You'll also learn a bit about tree care companies and the services they provide, which will come in handy if you don't have the skills or equipment to do your own tree care.

Four Types Of Mosquito Removal

Mosquitoes can ruin the enjoyment of your own backyard, but it can seem impossible to destroy these airborne pests. Fortunately, there are several treatment options. You can use them alone or implement them all for the best results.

1. Assessment and Cleanup

A control service can perform a full property assessment to locate the problem spots that are leading to increased mosquito populations. Likely culprits are any areas with standing water, including dirty gutters, as well as overgrown grassy areas and low-hanging tree branches. You will be provided with an assessment report so that you can clean up the areas causing issues. Often, the solution is as simple as removing or increasing drainage anywhere with standing water, trimming grass and plants, and pruning the trees to raise their crowns.

2. Water Feature Treatments

For lawns with water features, including fountains and ponds, there may be a need for targeted treatment. Mosquitoes lay eggs in slow-moving water. A simple fountain or pump to circulate the water may be sufficient in a small water feature. Treatment may be needed in larger features where maintaining water movement is more difficult. Mosquito pellets, which are round cakes that release bacteria that only affect mosquitoes, can be placed in the water to reduce populations.

3. Population Control Spray

A full yard treatment can immediately and drastically lower pest populations, particularly if it is done immediately following cleanup and water feature treatment. Your mosquito service will spray in the day when the pests are resting on the underside of leaves in gardens and trees. Mosquitoes are especially drawn to low-hanging leaves on the tree and shrub branches, which is where the treatment will be concentrated. This treatment is fast-acting, and you will have much fewer mosquitoes that evening. Keep in mind that it only targets existing mosquitoes, any new mosquitoes entering the property after treatment won't be affected.

4. Ongoing Removal

Ongoing removal is necessary in areas where there is a high number of mosquitoes. This could be due to environmental reasons, such as a nearby wetland, or due to incursion from a neighbor's property. A misting system is a good treatment option in this case. Misters are installed around the perimeter of the yard. They are set to mist a mosquito-killing spray at dusk just as the pests become active. This way the mosquitoes are stopped as soon as they start to enter your yard.
