They simply need the proper care. On this website, you will learn what that proper care entails. A lot of it comes down to proper trimming, but certain trees also thrive with fertilizer, extra water, or some wood mulch around their base. You'll also learn a bit about tree care companies and the services they provide, which will come in handy if you don't have the skills or equipment to do your own tree care.

Some Trees Should Be Removed

Trees can be some of the most important and noticeable parts of your landscape. However, they can also be problematic. Once you have a better idea of some of the ways trees can cause problems, you can recognize when your best option may be to have someone come to completely remove the tree from your land. Here are a few different examples of times when you might find yourself dealing with problematic trees:

A tree has died

If you had a tree that is dead, then that tree is a danger and needs to be removed. There are many ways to tell if a tree is likely dead. For one thing, if a tree doesn't have any leaves by the end of summer, then it is likely dead. In the winter, you will expect to see a tree without leaves, so you want to look for tree buds. These are harder to see than leaves, so you have to get close. Tree buds are small dots that go along the ends of the branches.

Also, if a tree isn't the type to have peeling bark, but you see large areas of bark peeling, it may be dead. Also, if there is rot around the trunk, then the tree is dead and is especially dangerous. A dead tree will have dead branches that can fall under any amount of stress, such as snow piling on it or wind blowing. Many times, dead branches will just fall for no other reason than their own weight. Also, an entire dead tree can fall over, which is exactly why you need to get that tree removed.

A tree has been badly damaged

There are a lot of ways a tree can be badly damaged. Just one example of something serious that can happen to a tree is that it can be struck by lightning. It can take years for a tree to show the full extent of the damage, and in some cases, the best thing to do when you have a tree with extensive damage is to have it removed. Have a professional examine the damage to your tree and they will be able to give you an opinion on whether or not it should be removed.

A tree is outgrowing its space

Sometimes a tree is planted assuming it won't get large enough to pose a problem to nearby areas. However, you may find that one of your trees has grown quite large and is now a risk to anything from the driveway or sidewalk to the eaves of your house. If you have a tree that is larger than what safely fits in the space it's in, then you should have it removed.
